Open Door Sports Inc. was recently awarded $25,000 of grant funding from the Philip L. Graham Fund and $10,000 from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, both of which are to support a portion of our ongoing program operating expenses.

The Philip L. Graham Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations that provide a wide array of direct services to individuals and families. This grant is part of the Fund’s Health & Human Services focus area which is designed to ensure that everyone in the greater DC metropolitan area has access to the tools necessary for healthy and productive living.

The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation is committed to building a stronger community for residents of the Washington, DC metro area. This grant is part of the Foundation’s Community Services focus area which helps young people develop relationships with trusted adults and make connections to the larger community.

The funding from these grants will help to further ODS’s goal to increase the number of free-of-charge, high-quality, adapted soccer, basketball and bocce program offerings and, consequently, serve over 500 children with disabilities and children from low-income homes. “We are extremely grateful to have garnered support from two of the DC area’s most prominent and generous foundations. We are honored that they see the value in our mission and we will work tirelessly to continue providing free high quality programs to children and young adults with disabilities,” said Sarah Albus, ODS Executive Director.
